Where Are My Bookmarks?

With the new user interface design on Windows Vista and 7 of Firefox 4 the bookmarks have been moved. There are several ways to access your bookmarks:

  1. From the Firefox Menu Button. Bookmarks will be at the very top of the second column.
  2. On the far right of the Navigation Bar or (if shown) Bookmarks Toolbar will be a Bookmarks menu button.
Bookmarks menu button on the navigation bar (if the bookmarks toolbar is not shown).
Bookmarks menu button will be displayed on the bookmarks toolbar if it is set to displayed.

What if, you would rather have the smaller button on the navigation bar? By default you can not have both the smaller button and the bookmarks toolbar displayed, however the extension bug582139 will allow you to have both. Simply install the extension (no restart needed) then right-click on the Home button, select Customize…and you can have the smaller button back on the navigation bar.

  3. Pressing ALT will temporarily display the classic Firefox menu bar where you will be able to select Bookmarks.
  4. Bookmarks in the side-bar. You can have your bookmarks displayed in a side-bar instead. Right-click on the Home button and select Customize… First, drag off the current Bookmarks button. In the Customize Toolbar box find and drag this bookmarks icon without the arrow on to the navigation bar:

This button opens the bookmarks in the side bar and does not have the drop-down arrow on the right-side

This button opens the bookmarks menu and has the drop-down arrow on the right-side.
